Eyebrow Transplant

Eyebrows are one of the most important facial features of a person. They are crucial for communication and facial expression. Eyebrows frame the eye and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the face. Eyebrows can be a very accurate indicator of your true age.

There are a number of factors that can result to eyebrow thinning or baldness. It can either be due to over plucking or it could be caused by physical or chemical trauma to the face. A disease condition that can cause hair shedding can also result to thinned eyebrows. Ageing is also a factor.

Indication

Anyone who is suffering from thinned eyebrows is considered to be good candidates for the procedure.

Eyebrow hair transplant surgery is a permanent solution to eyebrow thinning. You will experience long term growth, and just like native eyebrow hair they will eventually shed but will also regenerate eventually.

Similar to regular hair transplants, the process involves removing either individual groups or a strip of skin with active follicles from one area of the body to another. The back of the head is the most common harvesting site.

On average between 250 and 400 individual hairs are required per eyebrow in order to obtain a natural, healthy looking brow. Depending on the size and appearance of the current eyebrow as well as the look you are hoping to achieve, this actual number could vary. This is a very delicate procedure, requiring perfect placement of these hairs into tiny (half-millimeter) incisions that are angled at just the right direction and positioned to mimic natural growth. The use of all-microscopically dissected grafts allows their placement into the smallest possible incisions so as to minimize scarring and damage to already existing hairs. It is performed on an outpatient basis. Usually an eyebrow hair transplant can go for 5-6 hours.

Do not perform any strenuous activities or contact sports after surgery.

There is minimal risk recorded with eyebrow hair transplant. Any untoward result would often include the hair growing in the wrong direction. The transplanted eyebrow hair shed at around 3-5 weeks post-surgery. Hair will start to grow again at two months. The final results can be expected at 10 months. This means that full growth and coverage is clearly observable.
